Is this a bad idea?

I just made a water deck, because I realised that I had quite a lot of interesting water pokemon :) However, I have 23 pokemon, most of them being only 1 copy of each evolution line. Is that a bad idea? Would it be better to have 4 copies of 3-evolution chains than 9 single copies of 3-evolution chains? The think that makes me sad is that I don't have more copies of the final evolution pokemon and don't really want more basics than I have finals.

I want to use all these pokemon because they are so cool ;_;

My deck:

Pokemon: (23)

Bouffalant x2

Miltank x2

Barboach x1

Whiscash x1

Feebas x1

Milotic x1

Kyogre x1

Lapras x1 (water arrow/surf)

Lapras x1 (seafaring/hydro pump)

Oshawott x2

Dewott x2

Samurott x2

Tympole x1

Palpitoad x1

Seismitoad x1

Vanillite x1

Vanillish x1

Vanilluxe x1 (One of my favourite pokemon chains. Why do people hate them?)

Trainer: (21)

Diver ball x1

Energy retrieval x1

Evosoda x1

Professor's letter x2

Rare candy x1

Startling megaphone x1

Switch x2

Town map x1

Bianca x2

Cheren x2

Colress x2

Pokemon Center Lady x1

Skyla x1

Rough seas x1

Hard charm x1

Energy: (16)

Double colorless x4

Water x12

p.s. I bought the xerneas deck. After I buy the Sylveon deck, would it be a good or bad idea to buy a second Xerneas deck to make a good fairy deck?

Thank you in advance.

Having that many evolutionary lines gives the deck no consistency, its hard to even pin point what your strategy would be besides just trading damage.

For your items you'd want at least 3-4 Dive Ball, this replaces Ultra Ball as a free Pokemon tutor for Water Types.

Also you will want 3-4 Evosoda or Rare Candy, running both gets clunky.  But.......if you were to take a deck heavy in evolution, its going to struggle in todays format.  With Toad running wild and Trevenant seeing new play, if you get item locked it'll be very difficult to get your evolutions going and with the new set coming out there will be even more item locking.

Also for your Supporters you need to have 4 Juniper or Sycamore and 4 N, these 8 draw Supporters have been a staple in just about every deck since their printing.

16 Energy is just too much in most decks these days.  Try to bring it down to 11-13 if you're comfortable with low energy.  I run a few decks with 10 or less in it but not all decks can do that so its something you'll have to experiment with.

I know it looks like you're trying to have fun with this deck, which it totally great, having fun is a part of the game, but I can promise you probably won't have that much fun once you take this deck into battle and watch your opponent one shot most of your stuff before you have a chance to really do anything.  I suggest focusing the deck you have now on just a few Pokemon and more copies of them or try to build that Fairy deck you mentioned but you'll need at least 3 of Geomancy Xerneas for energy acceleration and as an alternative attacker if needed.

@Lin, Thanks.

I guess I'll have to work on Fairy then, since I don't have any more copies of any of those cards.

I've lost like 2 games by milling myself out. Are N/Juniper/Sycamore really that good? Colres puts them back in my deck.

Also, how do you win with 10 energy?

1- You need to get them.

2- Your pokemon will die and you will lose energy.

That doesn't happen quite often. Since with aromatise, when a pokemon is gonna get KO, you must shift them to another pokemon. Don't worry. These number of energies work great :) Try it. When I was a starter, I used to use the same logic, what if energy finished and hence used to keep 20 energies. But here is a tip.. The First thing is, make a deck with pokemon and cards that help each other and win as a great team. So when that happens, your first priority is to set up. Once set up, No deck even needs energy anymore. It can win any deck then, as when it sets up, it indirectly denies the set up of opponent..

Energy is what wins the game, it's the type of trainers and supporters you have in your deck that does. There seem an awful lot of evolutions and it's going to be a hard time getting them all out- there's no problem drawing pokemon but they're not going to be the ones you want!

I'd defiantly add more supporters such as professor sycamore/juniper. Toad EX will go down in popularity after the next rotation but it's a very popular water typing to add.

Aromatisee is a popular fairy deck atm, with baby xerneas (the one with 130hp) being used to bring the energy to field-but I'd play with whatever you're happy with :)

yes N and Juniper/Sycamore are really good.

N can potentially disrupt your opponents hand whenever its used while providing draw for a fresh hand.  In the late game it can take your opponents hand all the way down to 1 card if that's all they have left for prizes as a good way to disrupt their plays to give you a chance to come back or make that final KO yourself for the win.

Juniper/Sycamore are the best draw Supporters in the game hands down, almost everyone will agree with that.  As much as you'd like to keep all the cards in your hand/deck to be used when needed, you'll find that as you gain more experience at the game, that you can do well by discarding resources you don't need at that particular time and draw a fresh hand of 7 cards which increases your chances of drawing the cards you actually need when you need them.  Don't get too careless with them though as 4 copies mean you can draw 28 cards plus what you threw away means you can deck out/thin your deck really fast.

Re: Vannilite.  Vanniluxe

THEY'RE ICE CREAM CONES! lol :P

Somewhat lacking in the fear inspiring qualities I know I prize in pokemons.  They're not even all that 'cute', granted I have no idea what all their attacks are, they're ICE CREAM CONES!!  ha ha

Brain Freeze 30

The defending pokemon has a splitting headache.

I guess the plasma freeze one is pretty savage.  :D

Hey Trainers!

I think they're cute as well! In their own way. ^^ And they're super fun to play in the Frost Ray Theme Deck imo!

The XY episode featuring Vanillite is great.

The little one is lost, Team Rocket dresses up as Nurse Joy, there's a massive blizzard and Ash meets Ramos and his Gogoat the Coumarine City gym leader.  :D

@Mod, I might just buy that deck. I'm close to 500 gold, and people have told me that buying two of the same deck isn't good.

Your deck is very random and doesn't have any main focus or synergy. I would cut out some of the pokemon that to evolve to stage 2 and focus on either 1 pokemon and have support pokemon that dont evolve past stage 1 or have some sort of energy acceleration/movement and still try to power up 1 main pokemon. Also keep you pokemon at about 15, your trainers at around 30, and your energy below 15.

@Car, I'll keep that in mind.

I'm on 14/28/12 at the moment.

That's not bad, post a decklist so we can give tips and make suggestions.

@Car, I know :)
There's nothing really different to show as of yet. I still need a few cards.

The main changes are the removal of ice creams, toads and lapras (water arrow/surf).

I replaced some of my draw cards, so I now have 4 n, 1 birch, 2 juniper, 2 colress, 1 shauna and 1 skyla.

I lack the packs to have more cards.

Where can I get muscle bands?

@Car, I'm f2p, so as of yet, I have no tradeable cards/packs.

Also, I've seen the threads that trade cards for my packs, but I would feel so bad trading 5-100 various cards for one specific card :s
