closed beta "signature"

i've noticed some people have a thing in their sig in large bold letters stating they were a closed beta tester. Is this something they've added themselves for whatever reason or is it something implemented by the system? Cos i was in closed beta, i remember the trainer challenge only browser based gameplay I got free tradable cards at the end of closed beta i should have that sig too if it's automatic.

 

or if it's just people adding it to their sig to "boast" that's fine, I won't add it to mine.
