Rethink The Reward for 3rd / 4th Place in 3 Ticket Tournaments

Currently the reward for winning one match (coming out 3rd / 4th place) in a 3 ticket entry tournament is 1 ticket.

 

This is really kind of a disappointing reward.  I play one or two tournaments per day (probably more than most people, as I know there are a lot of even more casual players in this game) and never feel close to running out of tickets.  I get plenty from the Winner's Wheel in VS matches, as well as the 1 ticket reward for 3rd / 4th place.

 

Basically, when I get a 1 ticket reward I feel like it's just contributing to an endless cycle of tournaments without any "real" prize.

 

I'd honestly rather lose the first match and get some guaranteed tokens than get the ticket, however I refuse to throw the match.  However, I have run into quite a few people that DO throw the first match just to turn their tickets into quick tokens.  This not only makes the tournaments less fun for people that are actually trying to play, but it makes honest people like me feel like suckers for not taking that easy way out.

 

Please consider making the 3rd / 4th place prize either a ticket + 25 tokens, or make it 75 tokens (no ticket).

agreed.  in the mean time you can save up your tickets and only play on the weekends where winning just one game will net you atleast 1 pack.  but it would be so nice if that was available every day.

I'll admit to throwing matches to get tokens when I was a few short of getting something in the shop. I agree the prize for 3-4th is awful. I also think the price of purchasing tickets is way too high. You aren't getting much for three dollars in these tournaments. The prizes aren't great and you at most get 3 games out of it.

I totally agree that the prize of 1 tournament ticket for 3rd and 4th place is abysmal.  Winning a match should at least allow you to break even on the entry fee.

I would much rather lose the 1st match then to get 3rd-4th. As people have said getting 25 tokens is better than getting 1 ticket (after spending 3 tickets).

 

This is why i almost always do tournaments on weekends.

does anyone prefer the 3 ticket tournaments to the 5 tickets? I think the idea that you have to win 2 rounds to get meaningful rewards is a pretty high barrier.  I personally only do tourneys on the weekends for that reason but was wondering what others thought.  for me the 5 ticket tournaments are at the perfect level of incentive.  

 

3 ticket tournaments:   total input 24 tickets.  total rewards 5 packs.  (0.2 pack per ticket)

5 ticket tournaments:   total input 40 tickets.  total rewards 9 packs. (0.225 pack per ticket)

 

but i am guessing that ptcgo devs think that 5 tickets is too much barrier, but for me it is the opposite actually.
