New Game Mechanic: Set aside 2 cards that won't be prized

Hi, I've been playing ptcgo for a fair bit now and think it's definitely an interesting and unique card game with many different mechanics that makes it play out very differently from other card games. I do think there's a flaw with the card game itself which has to do with the six prizes mechanics. Bear in mind I do like it as a unique mechanic that I don't believe exists in any other card game. But the problem with it is that there are six prizes and aside from basic energy, you can only have four of a card of the same name in your deck and you cannot retrieve any card in your prizes until you actually K.O. a pokemon. So no matter how good or consistent your deck is, no matter what, even though it's unlikely, there will always be that chance where you will just lose simply because enough of your key cards are prized. For example imagine playing a Mega-Gardevoir deck and having all of your Gardevoir-ex prized, definitely would not be a fun experience. So my suggestion is, before you take six prizes from your deck, you choose two(maybe not the final number) cards to put aside so they cannot be placed in your prizes, and then shuffle those two cards into your deck after you put down your prizes. I think this would be a good solution to fix this flaw.

While it may be good for players to know which 2 cards are definitely in the deck, I can certainly say that this 'flaw' would never be fixed.

Unfortunately, the rules of the game have been fixed from the start and it is unlikely for it to change to solve this "flaw". The only way you can prevent your key cards in the prize is to include a minimum of 3 or max of 4 to ensure you have the cards in the remaining of the deck. Also, there are trainer card such as town map that allows u to see the prize. Ultimately, the game also involves a certain amount of luck.

Unfortunately Deathsharky is correct, TCGO is just a digital simulation of the physical TCG and therefore cannot / will not add any rules that do not already exist in the physical TCG (one of which I would personally like to see is a refined mulligan process, but still) .  There really are no ways to  guarantee a given card isn't hidden in your Prize Cards (I once played a theme deck match with Enchanted Echo and guess what, both my Sylveons were under Prizes), however there are ways to help reduce this happening (as mentioned -- have 3 or 4 of that card in your deck, use a Town Map to scout out your prize cards, or various Pokemon have attacks/abilities that allow you to interact with your Prize Cards in some way).

Obviously I know the online game is based on the real card game so obviously this wasn't intended to be a suggestion just for the online version. This game did not stay the same in terms of game mechanics since it was made, ruling and game mechanics are added and changed as new cards are introduced. Mechanics that are intended to fix the game flaws have also been added. For example the ruling that the player going first cannot attack on the first turn was added in 2013. The ruling was introduced to prevent a flaw in the game where the player going second could be defeated before he could do anything if he does not have any other basic pokemon to bench and the player going first could deal enough damage to knock out his opponents active. This suggestion is pretty similar to that ruling in function since it prevents an unlikely but devastating flaw in the game. A flaw that may decide a winner not based on skill, how good your deck is, or even just how decks match up, but based on simply an outside chance that an unlikely but possible set of circumstances (that the 'victim' can have no influence over) occur.

I see.  The name of this forum is still Pokemon Trading Card Game Online, though, so pretty much anything we post here is automatically assumed to be a suggestion for TCGO specifically.

No offense taken, btw :)

i feel like you are better off suggesting a new card that lets u retrieve from prize cards than a core rule change that will cause all kinds of confusions and require changes to all the prints out there and tutorials etc etc etc.  it does not seem like a feasible suggestion at all.
