I took a stroll down memory lane the other day finding my old pokemon cards from the late 90s while cleaning out the garage. Invited over a friend and we played with the old cards. Still remember how to play and could still name all 150/151 (should I count mew?) original pokemon. Boy did those musty smelly cards bring back memories of going to Toys R us for the Pokemon league every saturday morning, getting that stupid little book stamped and earning those little badges, which I still have.

Found this place via google search.

Fast forward nearly a decade later from when I was last in to pokemon, WOW way too many pokemon.

Nice to see something I loved so much as a kid is still popular today.

I feel old now. :(

There are many veterans of Pokemon here. I'm one of them ;). I still have my old cards and decks too, but I know they are no use in the leagues now(although they have unofficial leagues for the old cards). I dont know half of all the Pokemon but I know the Pokemon up to the Gold/Silver times. The best way to learn these new Pokemon is to buy the Nintendo DS games(like the ones in the past where they used to make it for the Game Boy) This is a good site for battles though :)

I'm 28 myself and still a Pokemon fan and going. When something has lasted this long and it's still good it's hard to find things like that.

Even I remember the original 151. Yeah, a lot has changed...

But the very root of it... what made Pokémon fun in the first place, remained the same.

It started with Red and Green Versions (Red and Blue in the Western half)... These two games, without them... nothing else would exist...

From the classics that were in monochrome (black and white) in Red and Blue to what we have now in Black and White, full fledge colors (red, blue green, yellow, various others), vivid motions, a huge collection of Pokémon, moves, and strategies to choose from...

Let Pokémon live on forever... And maybe one day, we can cross over into their world... the Pokémon world.

(And does anybody else find the color thing a bit ironic?)

I still have my 13 Badges (I left the leauge in the middle of Johto Legue (I was getting tiered) on my TMNT lunch box that hold my 20 some decks (of all origanil cards Base Set - Neo) I still collected the cards, because I liked the pictures of the pokemon, but I never played again until my brother came back to collage for the first time and we played two rounds. I have books of the cards, and still flip through them every now and again, to make sure they do not stick togehter. I still have the two books to, I spelt Pikachu wrong in the (Then Not Named) Kanto book as my favorite pokemon, and then spelt Quilava wrong in the Johto book. The only reason I bought the GBA and DS was because Pokemon we're coming to it. Heck I only bought the GameBoy Color because I wanted to play Red and Blue with the rest of my class. I can only name the 151, plus some of the Johto, and the others are just the starters, I still don't know any of the BW names, I call them by the Nicknames I gave them.

Also don't feel old, I still play the games, as well as the students I teach (Well help teach, one more semester until I can teach by myself), it's funny.

I remember being really young (maybe around 4 or 5) and playing my brother's pokemon red. I used his venusaur and I remember thinking it was a frog, I remember every attack I launched was a one hit KO because he raised to a high level, all of them were "not very effective" even though they still OHKO'ed them because of the level difference and I remember asking myself, "if it's not very effective, why is it so powerful??" teeth_smile.png The good old days.

And then I learned about Pikachu and the Pokemon anime and my interest in the series skyrocketed (I was already playing the games frequently) I always secretly adored Pikachu I think, and I love him more than any other Pokemon.

I've been playing Pokemon ever since Blue and Red version came out, including the old Pokemon TCG. After I stopped playing Pokemon for a couple of years, when I start playing again after D&P came out, I start playing again. I was pretty surprised how much TCG changed since then. Now, it's a lot easier to KO Pokemon with low energy cost (compared to the 1st generation, you need like 3-4 energy cards to deal ~50 damage).

But the good news is that there are so many different strategies out there, both in Gameboy Pokemon games and TCG, which makes them a lot more fun. <img src="http://www.pokemontcg.com/javascripts/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/png/teeth_smile.png" alt="" />
