Trade Dissonance

I've been having issues about this situation:

I found a very desirable card in a digital pack - a Computer Search. It's a powerful ace spec, but I'm stuck on if I really want to trade it or not.

The first problem is I haven't found much use of it as I prefer using Rock Guard in my decks. I could see improving my mediocre collection with booster packs or EX cards, though I'm uncertian about what cards I'd want...

So then I checked the public trade list many times for that card, and noticed a very disurbing trend: There are people usually asking for 5-7 primal clash packs for it, and some I've seen giving up to 10 of them. But then I noticed when all other people are offering this same card for trades, many of them ask for in the region of 12 - 17 of these packs. In fact, some of them are the same people who made offers for the card in the first place!

In that way, I think this card is starting to get a huge amount of scalping and hoarding involved with it, much like the Max Potion. I don't want my card I got to be treated like that - I wish I could trade it to someone who wouldn't trade it themselves, and actually use it for their decks. But I don't think I can trust anyone online to do that, so here I am, stuck with a rare card, now put in a Mono-Grass deck I'm developing...

Have any of you had an issue like that yourselves?

Yeah, but it's their prices. It's likely not one person that's buying /Selling, and if it is, then they're doing it for a profit.

Honestly, worrying about what happens to a card you are trading away isn't worth the effort.

At the end it's about whether you are satisfied with what you get in return, not what happens to the card.

Or on the other hand the person getting multiple copies of the card could be selling it back for higher, i've seen plently people do that.

But in the end you shouldn't care about what happens to the card after, it's just too much stress that isn't worth the 'reward'.

Hope this helps :)

On the subject of the card itself, I would suggest you hold on to it. It's one of those cards you always want to keep in your collection because you never know when you may end up wanting to add it to one of your decks. You've already seen for yourself earlier the price of it often changes(be it scalpers or regular traders.) Not to mention, one person you can trust online is yourself, right? ;)

As for how peoples actions via trading make you feel. I'd take some words of advice from pokemanz88.(I thought it was pretty inciteful.) It really is not worth letting yourself get stressed over what other people are doing in trades or in particular, a card you may have traded to them.

For an added note, if you are ever concerned with whether or not you are getting a decent deal in a trade. Try and reference some of these big trade post. They are usually pretty accurate on all cards listed. At the very least it may help put your mind at ease for your future trades. Here is the thread I often reference http://forums.pokemontcg.com/topic/25163-the-top-cut-trading-inc-2/?p=320008 . Hope this helps.

I did check the Top Cut listing a while ago, and it considered the computer search to be worth 6 Packs with the * clause. The Violet Listing called for 9 packs. Hmm...

I guess you're all right - I really shouldn't be stressed out from this, and I did decide to just keep it for now. But if anything, is there anyway to censor a single card from the public trade listings without the rest of the cards being filtered out? That would relieve me of the annoying offers for it.

Unfortunately, there is not. (To my knowledge at least.) One thing that you can try doing is leave this idea in the suggestions section as it could prove to be beneficial to everyone. The ability to filter out Trainers,Sleeves, coins, etc. Would make browsing for certain cards much easier.

For now the best thing I can suggest is when you go to the public offers tab, try to have something you want already in mind. This way you won't have to bother with browsing through the list for to long.
