Beedrill's Allergic Shock

I've seen several threads about this attack, but none of them seem to address the issue I just experienced. My opponent used Allergic Shock on his turn. On my following turn, I used a Switch and retreated back into my original active pokemon. This should clear the effects of Allergic Shock, but when my opponent's next turn began, the effect was re-applied to my active pokemon and it was knocked out when my opponent damaged it.

Hmmm, I'm wondering if I missed some ruling on this maybe? If not, this needs to be fixed, since Beedrill is starting to get a little attention.
