Is PTCGO still not working with Windows 8.1?

I want to update to Windows 8.1. What's holding me back? Last time I tried playing PTCGO on an 8.1 PC, the game would crash consistently. I know other users have experienced the same thing. If it's back in working order, then I'll update to 8.1 but right now I'm sticking to 8 till I know that 8.1 and PTCGO are compatible

Well, I'm running 8.1 and since the update the program has been fine with my machine. Before the upgrade it used to crash every time I went into the Collection. Have you set it to Windowed, with the resolution 1260*768, and the speed setting to Fastest?

Mine crashes from time to time. It tends to happen if a my cursor is on a card while something is going on. Due to the cursor position, the game starts to generate the mouseover window that shows the card's stats, but since something else is going on (e.g., a card is being moved from hand to bench, or from Active to Discard Pile), the game crashes.

What happens in my case is.. it works perfectly.. then suddenly there is a box saying windows is low on resources, then after some time the BSOD with a sad smiley appears and the system restarts ..

It appears that the majority still having issues with Windows 8.1 are those that have Intel Graphics HD 4000. Intel is still investigating this issue and looking for a driver fix.

In the meantime, I recommend doing what the folks above mentioned...

  • Ensure that you have the newest video and audio drivers for your system, downloaded from the manufacturer's website.
  • Try lowering your desktop resolution to 1024x768.
  • Once in the game, go to your Settings and change performance to "Fastest" and uncheck the special effect boxes, lower your game resolution to 1024x768.
  • Try switching the game to windowed mode from the in-game Settings.
  • Try running TCGO from the “Refresher” file, which can be found in your “Pokemon Trading Card Game Online” folder.
  • Run a virus / malware scan. From your Windows system accessories run Disk Defragmenter.
  • Before running TCGO, close any unnecessary background programs (web browsers, word processor, etc.).
  • If all else fails, we ask that you try reinstalling the game.

If that does not help, then a little more on the drastic side:

-Right click on your TCGO desktop icon

-Select Properties at the bottom of the list

-Now click on the "Compatibility" tab, and under settings and tick the box that says "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution", then underneath that, check the box to "Run this program as administrator".

Freeze occurred today creating a Trade.

I have done the same process before without issue.
