Draw system

So I just played a game where I had to mulligan 9 times straight(with 9 Basic Pokemon in deck) and my oppontnet had to mulligan 15 times(though I can't be certain how many Pokemon he actually had but it looked like a standard Blastoise/Keldeo based deck so I doubt he was running less than me). I know 9 Pokemon is a tad less than most and I can't prove the other guy had more than the one Keldeo Ex I saw him play, but I still think this particular example seems a bit too far fetched(take it with a sprig of leek though).

I get that this scenario is technically possible by complete chance but it does make me doubt the systems ability to generate realistic draws.

PS: I also flipped 11 Heads in a row once with Conkeldurr. I've heard of similarly excessive coin chains, too.

Hey NINETYNINETAILS,

Thanks for the feedback! The team loves hearing from players so I'll pass this info along for review. I'll leave the thread open for discussion with other players in the meantime.

haha @ conkeldurr, i had something similar once, going up against basic orange, getting ahead by 5 prizes and then in my opponents last turn, he attacked with conkeldurr hitting 15 or so heads, decking me out and winning the game xD I love it when stuff like that happens

but you are right about the drawing, its rather easy to manipulate it seems, just making one card a 4 of almost assures you you pull one on the first turn, (often even multiples) and when making it just a 3 of somehow makes it much harder to get...

but the thing is, there is no such thing as random chance and as a consequence a programm has incredible difficulty simulating it... it probably works with possibilities and the likely hood of things... so i imagine it will be incredebly hard to make a system that makes you pull stuff in a "realistic" fasion, alo that would take all randomness out of it

Once, i got like 8 tails in a row with Durant's Iron Head and I'm like no I cant attack! Also, i got like 13 heads on Muk's Sludge Crash in Trainer Challenge. But of course, my opponent didn't have that much energy in play! When i think of it, computer generated randomness doesn't really make sense, so i imagine it must be hard.

Well an algorithm would be used to spit out a number relating to the card quantities. The more complex the algorithm the higher the entropy, as far as I'm aware. Not the highest priority, but I do think it needs work before they can say 'close enough'.

It seems a # of times during the 1st re-shuffle, 6 of the new 7 cards are the exact same (and in the exact same order) as the original 7. Only one new card is switched/"shuffled" in. Also sometimes when that happens on the 1st re-shuffle, that pattern then continues, so there is often many reshuffles in a row before a Basic Pokemon is drawn, as of course, 6 of the 7 "new" cards are guaranteed not to be a Basic Pokemon because they were the exact same as in the draw before, if that makes sense.

Regarding thoughts about algorithms and entropy and all that stuff I have no idea about, there must be some kind of way to make it somewhat "true" random on here, because there are many card playing sites on the internet, (especially some which involve high stakes money), that have to generate "true" random draws. Or am I way off base...if so, then forget this 2nd paragraph, lol, but my first paragraph I know has been happening!

Agreed.

I've never had anything happen like 10 heads in a row or anything like that, but 99% of the time I feel like I know what the beginning coin flip will be. Couple matches of heads, one match of tails, repeat.
