What type pokemon (regular series) player type are you?

Through my many years of playing the games (red, blue yellow, silver, gold - black, and white) I've come across many different types of players; I have come across the following types of people: Trainers, researchers, and competitors, each having their own subtypes. Just for fun...What type are you

The Trainer type:

The Method Trainer: each Pokemon is leveled up at as close to the same rate as possible, a person saying my lowest Pokemon level is 41, my highest is 49. Usually follows badge level obedience trends.

The Breeder: Breeds Pokemon to get certain attacks or abilities; often trades with the trader type; or trades with rare-hunter type.

The Trader: Trades Pokemon constantly to get level up and help friends or to get himself a good team; works well with breeder lending him a Pokemon for breeding purposes as well as being popular with fighters and collectors.

Researcher Type:

The Collector: Seeks to own All Pokemon and complete his Encyclopedia or pokedex, often displays charactoristics of either Breeders or traders though usually not both.

The Chroniclers: Seek to see all Pokemon and because they only want to see them and not catch them they usually use a small preselected team to allow for easiest run through of the game (also one of the fastest methods of completing the games)

The Rare-Hunter: Seeks out shinys and other rare pokemon; works with traders and breeders

The Competitor Type:

The Fighter: Levels up certain pokemon to have the most powerful team, often use a variaty of types and tend to achieve level 70 and up before completing the Elite Four.

The Single or Double Type Challanger: These Pokemon Competitors use mainly a single or double pokemon type to complete the entire game thus concidering themselves as masters of that particular pokemon type.

Hmm... Based on those descriptions, I'm a Chronicler, though I just do that until I beat the main story, still catching a few Pokemon here and there, then I go back and catch the Pokemon that I missed earlier.

I don't know how to categorize this, but what do you call it when I have my 6 main pokemon, and I call them starters, and I call my other 6 pokemon that I seldomly use the "bench", and when one of my pokemon failed me too many times, I either send it to the "bench" or call it down to the farm team?

the way you describe, i think i'm a fighter - well of course i am i mean haha.... but ya, i tend to get a team set and level them up pretty much in sync and don't bother to catch a lot of pokemon. just take them out for exp !

Method Trainer, but I do catch every wild Pokémon that I see that I don't already have.

Although in White I did something unusual for myself which was dump my main team of six after I beat Skyla and put them into a PC box and make a whole new team of six which eventually caught up in level to the first team.

Now I'm in the post-game with a rotating team of 12 evenly leveled Pokémon.

It was also the first game I PC'd my starter (Snivy after the first gym), not counting my complete failure of a Nuzlocke run in Sapphire where Treecko (nicknamed Tsutarja, since this was before Snivy's English name was announced) fainted before the first gym to a trainer's Taillow critical hit. <_<;;;;

I also play quite slowly and try to enjoy myself as long as possible before I have to get something done. A forme of procrastination? Maybe.

Maybe or maybe you're just someone who likes to enjoy things to the fullest, I'm the same way.

anyone else think that HMs are an annoying part of the game?? it just seems like the moves are really weak, can only be learned by certain pokemon at the expense of being able to learn a better move. and if you're trying to complete a task that requiers an hm it often means you have to break up your team so one pokemon misses out on exp.... anyone else agree?

Yeah but I beat the Elite 4 in White at like 50 hours in. ...<_<;;;

It's also not pleasant to watch someone w|h|o p|l|a|y|s like I do, since I put gameplay videos of me playin' up on Youtube of various games (aaannnddd not Pokémon since I can't film a small portable system!).

Edit: And that's why only Cut is mandatory in B/W, and only once. I agree with the people who said that HMs should be totally removed though, and Fly should be replaced by a Jetpack key item.

Yeah. You use Cut to teach you how to use HMs, and then you never have to use HMs ever again.

Of course, Strength and Surf and Waterfall and Dive and Cut-after-the-first-time-in-Dream-Yard give you access to previously inaccessible areas/items/rare-grass-patches/Pokémon, and Fly is for convenience, b|u|t y|o|u don't NEED them to beat the game.

Well, Blue, that's what HM slaves are for!!!

ya b,u,t t,h,a,t is one less place on your team for apokemon that you actually like.... sounds like they've fixed that little annoyance in the new games though, good to hear.... anyway, its late; s.o, o.f.f. to bed. good night all : )

That's why I don't keep the slave on my team all the time! I just switch to the Pokemon with whichever move I need, and bring my normal team member back when I'm done!

Ever since Gold/Silver, I have found that 5 Pokmeon on a team is perfect for getting through the game. Since then, I have rarely had more than 5 Pokemon after the eighth gym. Which leaves a spot open for my HM Slave. The great thing about Black/White, though, is that HMs are rarely used ^_^

But, I am definately a Breeder! I would spend hours trying to get awesome moves onto Pokemon! I remember trying for the longest time to get Reversal onto Cyndaquil in Gold for some reason. Ah the good old days ^_^

Sort of unintentionally, I ended up with a 5-man team in HG/SS - Totodile (and its line), Togepi (and its line), Geodude (and its line), Hoothoot (and its line...) and Machop :D (and its line). The last member was Furret/Farfetch'd/Pelipper, depending on wot HMs I needed.

And theeen at the very last night before White came out I took Lapras out of my PokéWalker for the final time, raised from level 20 to 79 through almost a year of PokéWalker-ing, and EV-trained it. ^.^

In video games, I'm a Double Type Challenger, but in the TCG, I'm getting over being a Collector and getting more into the game.

i ve never been into the pokemon videogames much but i'd probably would go with the method trainer/collector type as catching them all would be my aim but i'd probably try to level evenly only those few ones i'm actually gonna use for fights and just catch the others for the game completion sake.

Im more of a Breeder. I also like to catch and build teams around a theme, like an all baby team, sunny day team, trick room teams, Bug type team.....etc.

Unfortunantly I'm a Collector/Method Trainer >.< I catch every single pokemon in a certain area, level all my pokemon up so they are 5 or so levels above the the wild pokemon in that area, and then I move onto the next area.

It is a slow process, and it does mean I clock up 300+ hours at times before completing the story, but I honestly love all the pokemon in the game and hate the idea of leaving some left out to rot at level 6 >.>

Also, it means I have every pokemon at level 60~70 by the time I finish due to the sheer number of wild pokemon I fight.

I also train up 2 of the same pokemon if I am using one as a HM slave. For example, in Silver I have two Seakings/Nidoqueens/Pidgeots as I like my pokemon to have their natural movesets ^_^
