<--- I'd like some help please.

Hey everyone,


So I tried installing this game and it finally installed. I ran it and I got this message;




Upon start-up of the initial .exe, as in the login phase, it freezes and becomes unresponsive but then it's fine again. I log in and then my screen goes black, I assume from the window changing, but then nothing happens. Then I get that message.


I have done the following; Uninstalled the game and re-installed. Didn't work. I have also tried using the refresher. Also didn't work. I also read a post that installing from Google Chrome is known to give errors. So I deleted everything again and then tried from Firefox. Still didn't work. Now I'm stuck on what to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I recommend sending a ticket in to the Support Team so they can investigate your issue further. To submit a ticket, click the link in my signature, sign in, and click "Ask a Question". Please add as much detail as possible, including all error codes and/or crash reports you've received.

I submitted a ticket as this post suggests as i am having the same problem and i was told that my problem could not be fixed :(


Hey, I'm really sorry to hear that response..


I know we're clutching at Straws now, but there's 2 more things to try:


1) Re-install the game to a Custom Location - sometimes when the game is installed to a custom location, files that tend to go missing stay in the folder you designate for the game.



2) Make sure you are running the game as an Administrator. To do this, right click the Launcher File (Try Refresher.exe after this) and either click 'Run as Administrator' or you will find a setting under 'Properties' with the same name to turn on.



If you have further issues, leave your PC Specification here and I'll see if I can spot anything alarming.

Did you send the error log that was created in to Customer Support? Which OS are you running? Most errors can be resolved by reinstalling, but it's important to make sure that you fully uninstall first.


Unfortunately, the game does not always remove the all of its associated files when it is uninstalled. Reinstalling the game while those files are still present can create a conflict within the program. This is a known issue and the development team is working on a fix for it.


Until the development team can put a fix in place, you can do a "full" uninstall by following the steps below:


  1. Go to the Programs and Features section your computer's Control Panel. Select the game and uninstall it.
  2. Go to the directory where the game was installed. The default directory is C:\Users\your user name\AppData.
  3. The game stores files in the LocalLow and Roaming folders. Go into the LocalLow folder and delete the "The Pok_mon Company International" folder. Go into the Roaming folder and delete the "Pokemon Trading Card Game Online" folder.
  4. Empty your Recycle Bin.


If you are running Windows 8, it's hit and miss right now, since TCGO does not feature support for Windows 8 at this time.
