Fair Trading Guide

NOTE:THIS ISN'T A VALUE GUIDE.This is a Fair Trading Guide for the newest players but anyone and everyone.Well,if someone has multiple amount of the same card they might give you that card, same way people helped me out.
Rule number 1:Every rare (star card) isn't valued on the same level. Just because you are being offered a rare card for a rare card doesn't mean per say that their values are the same.Serperior(regular) for Zoroark is not a good deal .So its important for you to know the value of not only your cards but the cards based on what the market of trade has set.

Rule number 2:Quantity never tops quality. You would be surprise at how many times in public trade forum people assume they can offer you 10 commons/uncommons for a rare card and think that its not such a good trade. No commons/uncommons are worth any rares. Now if you are just feeling generous, or perhaps you have a great deal of multiples of a specific rare that you just don't care about trading away then so you may trade.

Rule number 3:If your offer isn't being accepted try to value the deal a bit.For instance,A FA Zekrom for a FA Reshiram is a one-for-one deal but is some cases I see people not accepting the regular values of cards which is unacceptable.

Rule number 4:Pokemon with Abilities,Poke-powers, and/or Poke-bodies hold higher value over Pokemon that do not. Some of you may or may not have noticed, but Serperior/Emboar/Samurott although a rare cards are not of equal value to its Serperior/Emboar/Samurott with ability counterparts, so edge on the side of caution when doing trades where the other person is asking for your Pokemon that has these qualities. From my observation most Non Prime cards that have Abilities,Poke-powers, or Poke-bodies warrant at least getting 3 decent rare cards for them. Some like Emboar w/ ability could possibly get you up to 5.Five rares for just that one card alone.
Public trading isn't the best place. People who desires for a card more offers bad offers on public but not everyone.

Hope this helps a bit.

I would suggest people search in public to see what people are offering the card for:

It gives an idea how many people are offering the card – If the card is not in public it is very rare or so common it is not commonly traded for much.

What Sellers would sell the card for – With enough samples in public a general idea of what people are expecting can be deduced.

Public is not always a good judge of value though as it is. Since the advent of "Code to 1 Set only" redemptions AKA Plasma Storm, I have seen some HORRID trades being posted. I wont name names as this is not allowed but as a general rule of thumb-

If someone is offering ONLY 1 Booster Pack for a Full Art EX card, its (probably) not a fair deal, and they are trying to find someone that will take it and get ripped off. Cards we currently have that are exempt of this are Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem- all EX Promos from the Next Destinies series. They have promo at the bottom of the card where the set number is, and are extremely common and easily obtained by using codes from store-bought tins with the same card in them. They arent valued as much, and people likely wont give you the listed value in trade threads for them.

Examples of cards with a higher value that people offer garbage trades for would be-

A Full Art(FA) Deoxys EX from Plasma Freeze. I have seen multiple people offer anything from 1 booster pack to 6 for this card, when the card is so hard to come by/valuable its worth almost triple what they are offering for it.

A Full Art(FA) N is worth about 12 packs, and there have been people on public offering 1-3 for it.

So with those examples, you should at least be cautious of trading valuable cards for packs or other things. If you are new, and you are unsure of values of cards- Gravy Beasts trade thread (or the temp one Alex Manectric has made) are probably bar none the best places to see what your cards are worth.

Also if you are looking for a card and make an offer that makes people jump on it a little too quick, most likely it is because it is heavily in their favor. I for one have done that because the people were offering cards i needed or wanted for very little in return.

I sorry I did not make it clear. Look at OFFERS for the card, not for what people are offering to get the card. You cannot search on what people are trying the buy cards for, but you can search on what people are offering cards for. In your example search on DEOX and see what people are offering to trade the card for.

All that's needed is a basic understanding of simple economic principles like supply and demand.
