Chat Censoring... Come on now.

Admins please note this. Some of the things that the chat censors is just ridicoulous. It Censors "Ho-oh" it's the name of a POKEMON! It's a card that's played fairly often. I know it's got "ho" in it but come on now...

 

 

 

Also other pointless things "balls" I tried saying "I have a hand full of level and ultra balls" and it censors that! Because of the world "Balls"! Again its Pokemon! That's word that's going to be said!!!!

 

 

 

I know they want to keep this kid friendly, but come on now. The chat censors so much that its almost useless. Sometimes commas get censored, that's an obvious glitch! It's gotta be, cause if not that's a sign of paranoia. You can't have a chat that's totally "kid friendly" to that degree. It's just not gonna happen.

 

 

 

Please tell the development team! It's not something that needs an urgent fix, trading should be top priority, but I feel it is something that needs to be said...

I also had some weird examples in a reply I posted in a topic today:

 

 

 

- Apparantly, you can't place "Skuntank" and "where" after each other. What word does that even form???

 

- When writing an exclamation mark, you can't put an ending parenthesis behind it (perhaps it was in combination with the word "deck").

 

 

 

And then the weirdest thing is that somewhere else it suddenly doesn't censor what it had censored before! I just tested it, and none is censored in this topic, while it was censored when I last used it!

 

 

 

Regardless, the censor has always been out of wack. I don't even try to understand the reasons for some censored parts anymore.

Censoring is kind of crazy.... I remember for like 5 hours ho-oh was uncensored then blocked again. Let me know as an acronym is blocked as well. :S

Hey guys,

 

Yes the auto censor is pretty strict, and some words are going to be censored due to them having multiple meanings, but we want to keep the game as family friendly as possible, and if some words are lost in that process we will probably just have to work around them, I will look into the ho-oh though.

 

On a side note however please do not avoid the chat filter, or give out tips on how to do so, as that may cause your account to have some issues <img src="http://www.pokemontcg.com/javascripts/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/png/wink_smile.png" alt="" />

I've noticed when you put ( in front of ok it censers it.

 

Also, why does it censor cristal (When spelled the right way)?

some of the guys i've battled have refered to pokeballs as "pokemon spheres" to get around the silly filter

 

 

 

and prof wormer is right, my sister got a warning on her account because she spoke to me with naughty words in a private match. even though we're both old enough and consenting and stuff, don't try and work around it

I pretty much just close the chat during games. It's just easier then trying to tiptoe around every single word that could possibly be considered offensive. Also commas, which are apparently naughty.
