Hone claws

so today i received this card in a pack but the attack "Hone claws" is confusing to me. It says that if you use Hone claws your next attack from this pokemon will do 30 damage. So in the next turn, if you use hone claws again, will it do 30 damage because it is an attack from this pokemon?

That would mean from the second turn and onwards it deals 30 damage per turn?

Or is it first turn 0 damage, then second turn 40 damage (from scratch) then third turn 0 damage again and fourth turn 40 damage.

The way I understand it is you use hone claws then use scratch instead of doing 10 damage it does 40 damage. The next turn after using scratch it would return to 10 damage.

Hello Frostosti,

The way I read it, it is just like plus power. So if the ability/attack does no damage then you do not add damage to it. So in this case, Hone Claws never does damage even if you have done Hone Claws on the previous turn. The wording can be a little confusing in this case for sure.

I had that card and from what I understand it only works for attacks, since Hone Claws is a status move it doesn't do any damage so it won't get any more damage. I also think that the effect doesn't work when you evolve and use a move but I'm not sure.
