Don't disconnect from games if you are losing!

I know this has been talked about many times before, but I'm so sick and tired of this. I was just playing a game where I was about to win. On my opponent's last turn before my turn where I was going to win, he does everything that you do before you attack. And when It was time for him to attack, he did nothing hoping that I would grow so impatient that I would conceed the game to him. After about 10 minutes later, I wrote him messages telling him that I would not conceed the game to him, not to disconnect, and to finish his turn. A few minutes later, he disconnected. If you are losing a game and are not in such a good mood to endure any more "torture," then do the right thing and click "Conceed" to formally conceed the game to your opponent. Or if your opponent is about to win on the next turn, let him/her finish the game. DO NOT be a sore loser and disconnect from the game without bringing closure. This is happening to me too many times lately where my opponent disconnects because they are losing the game. It disgusts me that so many people don't have the decency to accept defeat when these games don't even count. And DON'T be clever by stalling hoping that you can get yourself out of a defeat. It's really not worth it.

I'm pretty sure they are working on a solution. Yes it is annoying. I'd say people leave the game without conceding in 75% of the games I play. But they will fix it! so just be patient.

I think the entire problem can be rectified if the game went to full screen when it goes into the screen where you are actually playing the game, so that you can't even gain access to the web address bar, tabs, back, forward, stop, and refresh buttons unless you actually quit out of the game.

What this means is that, you can't do something like, make your opponent wait until the time expires, while you open up a new tab to do something else because the game became fullscreen, and the access to all the browser functionality is completely gone until you quit the game, which means you concede, and then when it goes to the main menu thingy, the game goes back into your browser.

Just look at Quake Live. When you are finding a match, you are using your browser. When you are playing the game, the game goes fullscreen, and all the HUD from IE and Firefox completely dissapears, and even the minimize, mazimize, close buttons dissaper, so does the start, and all the stuff at the bottom of your screen disappears too.

Seriously, I don't freaking need to hold shift to skip a line. None of the other forums do that, and I don't get why this has to be the exception. Word processors require you to press enter twice to skip a line. Why can't they do that here? I also could send a support ticket, but I thought this forum bug is blatently obvious that I didn't have to remind them. Oh well.

I might have a solution for preventing stalling. If the player spends more than one minute without doing anything, his turn will automatically end. After 3 times in the same game, he automatically concedes.

I so agree I mean i may have most loses because almost everytime I make a comeback near the end the guy quits.

So what I think is that the mods need to make it so if they leave that automatically concede.

Hey everybody!

I know exactly how frustrating it is to have your opponent quit before you win. We're working on something to remedy this, but please be a little more forgiving towards some users' situations. Someone may have a slow internet connection or working off of a slower computer like something with Windows 95 (I hope not though! lol) so their computer may take a while to update the turn moves. One minute would not be enough if this is the case. They may be making moves or being active but the game doesn't see it until it updates through the network to the opponent. Maybe if they are inactive for 10 minutes, that would make more sense. That allows some leniency for slower connections and time to be presented as active in the game. Once they've passed something like 20 minutes though, even while being active, I think the turn should end. I believe that is the intent of the timer, it just hasn't been fully implemented yet. Overall, don't worry because we're definitely working on it ;)

P.S. (I know everyone dislikes rage-quitters, but let's not be hostile towards other players in the forums, including trying to sling mud at their usernames. Let's be conscientious of everyone in the forums ^_^ thanks!)

I'm sorry Snow but the Windows 95 part made me laugh hard.

How do people not get a loss when they quit the game?

1. Pressing the Refresh button

2. Closing the Browser

3. Changing websites

What if the refresh button, close button, and web address bar were to magically disappear?

Hey, how about making the it fullscreen when a user gets into a match? Hey that's an idea that nobody ever thought of.

Since magic online and yugioh online run on its own application, none of those games have a disconnect unless you physically pull the ethernet cord.

Here, you have 3 other ways to disconnect from your match, and making it so that the user can't have access to these 3 options would be much better.

I think it would be better to just equate leaving the room to conceding.

I agree because if you're that desperate to not lose the game, you can always disable your Internet connection or turn off your computer.
