Scamming is a problem, what to do about it?

Today again somebody tried to get cards from me without offering anything.

I know how the trading part works and I dislike trading so most times I simply reject.

But I have seen these offers more before, offering nothing aka scamming to get good cards for free.

The real problem is the trading screen, because it doesn't say clearly with a NAME who is trading and which way.

I still find it very confusing.

Is it possible to adjust this screen saying: "Abe is offering the cards below to Greg / Greg is giving the cards below to Abe (or something like that). So you are sure which screen belong to YOUR cards.

It would prevent a lot of scamming/problems in the future.

I just rejected one of these scamming trades. I can't remember the name, but he/she wanted to trade my Ho-oh and my Blissey Prime for his/her NOTHING. Also, a few days ago somebody tried to trade my Groudon for his/her Bellsprout. You have to know what you have. So if somebody sends you an offer for what seems like an unfair trade and the "better" card in the trade is a card that you have, the trade is probably a scam.

Yeah, it totally needs to have the traders name in more places. I think you should also be able to block a person from sending you any more trades.

Beyond that I'm not sure if there is much they can do. I'd rather not see trading rules. I want to decide for myself if a trade is a good one.

Make sure you check the message assoiciated with the trade as well. Sometimes I will send what appears to be a 1 way trade but the message will say "Make me an offer for these cards" simply because I don't know what they want!

A good portion of the trades I make are based off their want list and when there want list is blank I will do that.

Only suggestion I would make is make a pop up message that says "Are you sure you want to give these cards away for free" so people know that they are not receiving those cards but giving them away. i don't want them to force at least 1 card on both sides because I do give away cards frequently.

That's not very safe, if someone sends me a trade request where they are just giving me cards for nothing I'll take it. I don't even notice the message.

What I think FireEmblem6 means is that he'll send someone a trade offer that asks the other person to give him the cards for nothing, but send the message that he wants the person to make a trade offer with him where he would get those cards. Of course the if other person accepts the initial trade, that person would be giving all his cards to FireEmblem6 for nothing. So the other person has something to lose if anything.

Yep, Shark got it, and the 1 time that happened I gave the cards back to the person. We ended up making a deal for the cards anyways :P

I like the idea of having a confirmation window pop up for any trade, not just the scams for free cards. "Are you sure you want to trade your Reshiram for Username's Bellsprout?" is clearer than the current "Offering" and "Giving" tags. Is there any way to easily flag scams in the public trade? I would love to see a red flag button added that would flag a trade for a mod to take a look at.

Someone in public trades is even trying to scam the coin from Blue Assault. And someone else has "nicely" added the message "free Umbreon". Yeah, for him/her!

I would like to request the profs: please at least permanently ban the one saying "Free Umbreon". I can understand you can't just ban players asking for free things as they might simply be trying to do that (even though the chance is small), but when someone deliberately puts a small message like that, it should be enough proof.

Hello!

Be assured that we are taking the necessary actions to prevent scamming. We're definitely not turning a blind eye to it and are discussing revision of the wording in trade in order to help prevent future scamming. No worries!
