Another Novice Deck

Of course, this one happens to have Dragons.

25 Pokémon

4 Gabite DRX 87 (The one with Sand-Attack)

4 Gible DRX 89 (The one with Dragon Call)

4 Garchomp DRX 91 (The one with Sand Tomb...)

4 Buizel DRX

4 Floatzel DRX

3 Feebas DRX

2 Milotic DRX

20 Trainers

4 Cheren

2 Cilan

2 Copycat

2 Rescue Scarf

4 Pokémon Communication

2 Energy Retrieval

4 Potion

15 Energy

9 Water Energy

3 Fighting Energy

2 Blend Energy WLFM

1 Rainbow Energy

So...basically I bought two of the DragonSpeed theme deck, mashed them together, and saw if I could come up with a deck. An extra pair of Cheren, a pair of Cilan and Copycat, and a Rainbow Energy later, I had this.

The idea is to use Gabite's Dragon Call and Milotic's Clear Search to set up efficiently. While not nearly as good as Garchomp DRX 90, this deck's Garchomp can still manage to do 40 for 1, and by the time I'm done setting up a Garchomp, it usually has the Energy for Sand Tomb. Floatzel gives the deck a backup attacker: 60 for 2 is respectable, and the energy requirement isn't usually an issue - I save the basic Fighting energy for my dragons anyways.

Obviously switching to Garchomp GRX 90 would be a massive improvement, and I'll need to get rid of Copycat and Rainbow Energy soon-ish, but any other suggestions? My card pool is limited, but I'm willing to listen to suggestions for stuff I'll try to get long-term.

It might be a better idea to go for Prism Energy instead. You don't have to put 10 damage on the pokemone its attached to like Rainbow Energy does. Anyway really good idea for a start up player to get 2 decks and get full lines of the pokemon you are running. The only negative (to me only, not in general) is the high number of pokemon in the deck. In games i have played i found it to be more effective to run no more then 15 pokemon (closer to 10) and run around 30 supporters/trainers.

With limited resources such as extra cards from packs though this will do you quite a bit of good as it will be decades ahead of the dreaded Basic Yellow in ability.

If you could i would remove 1 Flootzel and 1 Buizel and add 2 Prof Oak's New Theory or Prof Juniper, Those would really help counter the high number of pokemon and supply you with a new hand in case your waiting on a certain card.

In what way is this a Novice deck? Seriously...

No new players will stick with this online arena if people keep using decks like the one above in Novice play.

How is this not a novice deck? Almost all the cards to build it are available by just getting 2 DragonSpeed theme decks, it's not like I'm using something like Garchomp/Altaria, or Reshiram/Typhlosion, or anything that would be considered competitive in Expert play.

@neochamp25: I'll look into getting Professor Juniper, I loved Professor Oak back in Base Set, and she's the next best thing. Unfortunately, Prism Energy won't work - It needs to be attached to a Basic Pokémon to give its Rainbow effect, and Garchomp isn't. Will definitely be on the lookout for more Blend Energies though.
