Friends Element

I am aware that the friends element has been released and I have used it before. However, all of a sudden the community/friends button at the top of the screen is blacked out. I have tried reinstalling the program, submitting a ticket, changing the settings for my account, but nothing seems to solve the problem. Can someone please explain or help me. Thank you.
