Confused with how this works

So how excatly does it work? From what I assume, you could buy virtual booster packs using coins that you purchase with real money (E.G Microsoft points) and you could use these to play the online game. However I have just downloaded it, and all I got to do was pick a 'basic' pack out of red blue or green and play a bunch of "Trainer Challenge" missions.

But I have seen online people playing with EX booster packs such as black and white. What I also assumed (Maybe I should just stop assuming?) is you can also buy 'real' physical decks from the store, use the code that you got in the pack to add them pokemon you got in the pack into your 'virtual deck'?

Is this or not the correct formula? Or have I completely failed to grasp the concept? Thanks guys!

Hey there!

Currently the only way to obtain booster credits (the currency that players use to buy online booster packs) is from purchases of physical booster packs or theme decks that are specially marked with this symbol:

That means they have a code card inside the package that you can redeem on the TCG Online. Players redeem the code in the shop then use the booster credits to purchse whatever packs they desire that are available!

Currently the tokens that you see on your account right now are only for the Pokemon.com Trainer Store. We are aware that everyone would like a method to purchase packs online, especially those who cannot obtain the physical products. I don't have much information regarding any plans for that right now, but we definitely have heard our players' concerns ;)

Allow me to give you a breakdown of what's going on in the TCG Online world right now! ^_^

  • The only cards you can currently use in the downloadable Trainer Challenge are the default basics decks and any theme decks that you have redeemed up to the Black & White Dark Explorers expansion.

Phew! I hope that information helps! Take a look around and let me know if you have any questions!
