What are your thoughts on each Generation?

With every generation comes new Pokémon, attacks, gameplay elements and graphics.

The generations I enjoyed the most were 1, 2 and 4.

I liked Generation 3, but for some reason, I just couldn't get into the replayability of it. Also, the graphics were such a radical change from Generation 2, that when I first played through it, I didn't even believe it was a Pokémon game.

Generation 4 really got me psyched into Pokémon battling again. I must've spent over 700 hours on my Diamond cartridge, training and breeding hundreds of different Pokémon. Not sure why, but Generation 4 somehow reminded me of Generations 1 and 2, so that's probably why it skyrocketed my excitement into playing Pokémon again.

But I think all those hours ended up burning me out, because it took me forever to complete SoulSilver. And then when Generation 5 started, I played through Black, but not to the extent that I thought I would. I didn't EV train nearly as many Pokémon, and even now, I don't really feel much incentive to picking up my DS to play it.

I think part of the issue is that although Pokémon games are supposedly already in development for the Wii U, we currently have no 5th Generation Battle Simulation game for the Wii. It has been over 5 years since Pokémon Battle Revolution was released, and ever since the shift away from Battle Simulation games into the mini-game era of PokéPark and PokéPark 2, it really made me miss being able to watch my Pokémon battle others on a big screen TV.

I don't know what Genius Sonority is doing, but I honestly hope that they haven't been wasting away these past 5 years sitting on the couch, doing nothing. If they finally manage to get out a sequel to Battle Revolution for the Wii U, I think that's what will get me motivated into training again, especially with Black 2 coming out soon.

Also, it seems like the even-numbered generations always polish up what the odd-numbered generations first introduce. That being said, I'm looking forward to Generation 6, which will probably streamline much of what Generation 5 introduced.

What the heck is Denpa Ningen? Nobody has even heard of that, and it doesn't have a commercial. I agree with dialga

Denpa Ningen is a Nintendo eShop game, so it won't have a commercial, and it's not out in english yet anyway. Oh and I found out that "Learn with Pokémon: Typing Adventure" Was made by Genius too...

Generation I: Straightforward story: you are a hero, and you beat the bad guys. Nice, simple, but maybe too simple. It was a great game for 1995(?) It was a great childhood memory! <3

Generation II: The original Gold/Silver games were almost like spinoffs of the original Red/Green/Blue, it lacked a lot of elements, like new antagonists and the plot line was pretty similar to the first Generation. It did not appeal to me until HeartGold and SoulSilver came out. But nevertheless, playing it in Elementary school was still fun.

Generation III: This is when the Plot lines started to heat up. I cannot say much, because the only Gen III game I have played is Emerald. It is also, in my opinion, the hardest main series game. Many additions, including double battles and a Battle Frontier (Emerald only). It was a real milestone for Pokemon. However, the dive thing I thought was kind of a fail.

Generation IV: WAAAAY better graphics than the previous generation and a plot line that will leave you on the edge of your seat, they put a lot of eggort into this game and it shows, especially in Platnium. It will have you playing it long after you beat the main story. My only complaint is that the battle sequences and saving were REALLY slow...

Generation V: I cannot say a lot, due to Black 2 and White 2 coming out, but this is my favourite main series game. It introuduced a lot of things, and the plot line was AMAZING!! BUT!! It was short, too short for my liking, and there was not a lot to do after the main story was completed. From what I hear, Black/White 2 fixed those issues.

As for spin-offs...

Generation I: Okay, there were not a lot of them, but let me focus on one I really like: Hey You! Pikachu! It was unlike any other game, It used a microphone and it was like owning a real Pikachu, A REAL PIKACHU!! BLIMEY, I'M A POKEMON TRAINER!!!! There were not enough spin-offs.

Generation II: For Gen II: Pokemon Stadium 2. I did not do the original for Gen I because I have not played that game for, like, 10 years now (I am sweet _ _!) It was neat to fight on a 3D screen, I loved the elements of the game, but it is really hard to get the GameBoy Cardridge transfer thingamabober to work and it failed most of the time.

Generation III: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team: BLIMEY, I'M A POKEMON NOW!!!!! I got Chikorita, with my partner being Charmander. LOVED THE GAME!! It was my first Mystery Dungeon platform game, and I fell in love with it! But the plotline was hard to follow and kind of confusing...

Generation IV: Pokemon Battle Revolution: I remember REALLY, REALLY wanting this for my 14th birthday, so I can see my Pokemon on the big screen, and it did not dissapoint! I played it everyday and told everyone how great it was. I thought, though, that the items you could buy and transfer were too expensive. I loved customising my trainer. <3

Generation V: Pokemon Conquest: BLIMEY, I'M A WARLORD NOW!! This is my favourite game of all time, it is like combining Yu-gi oh! Capsule Monsters or Duelist of the Roses with Pokemon!! I have never played Nobunaga's Ambitions, but it reminded me of Dynasty Warriors except Japanese people. The best, Cross-over, EVER!! (Oh, but the Smash Brothers series is good to...)

Well, in a condensed version I will make now, due to the fact I completely lost six paragraphs I attempted to type out due to Chrome blowing up, here's my opinions.

Gen I: My first gem, in which the first time I played it I had no idea what I was doing, due to the fact I was 5, and i completely ignored the angry coffee guy at the beginning of the game in Viridian City, with an end result of me having a extremely leveled up Charizard that only knew HM's, and a Gyarados at the Elite Four. Suffice to say that I enjoyed it a lot more when I KNEW how to catch Poke'mon.

Gen II: The third gen that I had played, it's also the one I've spent the most time in.Not only did it have awesome new Poke'mon, a much longer game, multiple side stories, and having both Kanto and Johto, made it a vast improvement over Gen I. Oh, and updated visuals. I did have this huge problem though with the third game in this Gen, being that I had no idea how to ctach Ho-Oh, and taht it took me well over 150 hours (including game story and other stuff) to actually find the two other Legendery dogs and ctach them. I say I'm just unlucky, but whatever. I didn't use guides back then, so the fact I actually ever caught Ho-Oh is just a coincidence that I had happened to had walked over to the tower where Ho-Oh usually is, after I had caught Suicune, Entei, and Raikou. Still remains to be one of my favorite games ever despite that.

Gen III: My second gen of Pokemon games that I had played, it's all my favorite gen due to all of the vast improvements over the first gen. It had a way more coherent story, MOAR POKE'MON, and an extremely larger endgame. I logged in about 100 hours into it, and had actually managed to "Catch Em' All" through trading back and forth with friends who had gone to events, and using other games I had owned, such as XD and Colosseum. Just due to the fact that I actaully did catch them all, and that the game taught me braille, (until I had forgotten it) it is my favorite Gen.

Gen IV: I really don't have much to say about Gen IV, besieds the fact it's the gen I play mostly now, due to Battle Revolution and such. I mean, I'd just be repeating myself, with this having more features, a better endgame, and even more Poke'mon, it's probably the best gen of all, in terms of originality. Still can't beat my love for Gen III though :D

Edit: I kinda speed typed this out, sorry for any errors, spelling or grammar.

How about Gen V?

Never finished Gen V. Never really got to into it, I'm hoping that Black and White 2 will be a bit more fun for me. I dunno, I just couldn't get used to all the new things. XD You get kinda frustrated when you have no idea what's going on, atleast I do anyways.

What new things?

Well, that'd be the new Poke'mon. Never did get used to them. I'd usually get frustrated when I sent a Poke'mon out based on what type the opponent's Poke'mon looked like, and subsequently, got owned. I'm prone to rage quitting in that game, which is why I don't like it. Also, a couple of things just seemed a little dumbed down, but I couldn't really see exactly how. (Yeah, yeah... I should probably grow a backbone and try to beat it. :P)

Did you ever look at Bulbapedia or something? It could've helped you

I do go on bulbapedia quite often actually, but usually I try to make my first complete playthrough without help. Usually I'm able to fly through the games, because the Pokemon provided to you seem to be always really good. Also, I figured out what I meant earlier, I meant as in the Pokemon you can catch just seem a bit weaker than the trainer's that you're battling. Probably just my imagination though.

Edit: Actually, I mean that any starter that isn't Snivy doesn't seem to be that good. That's what I was thinking... I think.

I know what you mean. It took me a while before it registered in my mind that Masquerain was a Bug/Flying type. I always thought it was part Water-type because it kept using Water Sport and Hydro Pump against me.

And in this generation, it took me a while to realize Bisharp was Dark/Steel. I always thought it was part Fighting...

It's harder to associate types with the way Pokémon look and the way their names are set up nowadays, compared to the 1st Generation, where Poison-type Pokémon were always colored purple, Fighting-type Pokémon always had muscles... that type of thing.

To me, Black and White seemed very similar to Diamond and Pearl in terms of gameplay, aside from the new battle animations and Triple Battles. And without a way of porting your Pokémon over to a home console to play in 3D on a large TV screen, it has been a bit of a downer...

Remember the good ol' days of Reggie introducing Pokémon Colosseum, XD and Battle Revolution to us on the big screens at E3? I miss those days...
