Rate my poketeam!

So, instead of getting my pokemon EV trained (yet), I did some minor adjustments to my pokemon team in Black (My main one), and I think the results are great. Please rate 1-10 how you like my pokemon now and the changes

Banette level 100

My 649 Pokedex book (yes, there's one of those) said that Banette is a great attacker, with the attack stat being it's best. So it told me to get shadow claw. I went in Celestial Tower and got Shadow Claw, and Will-0-Wisp. I replaced Toxic with Will-O-Wisp and Shadow ball with Shadow Claw (my other moves being protect and flash), and I think he's really good now. He holds the spooky plate and his Un-EV stats are as follows:

Attack: 270

Defense: 166 (It sucks but I don't need it because most attack specializing pokemon are either ghost or FIGHTING)

Sp. Atk: 236

Sp. Def: 150

Speed: 185

Ability: Frisk

HP: 277/277

Modest Nature

Item as of now: Twistedspoon (I replaced psychic with protect, so I'm going to switch that with spooky plate)

Victreebel level 100

So, the book said since I have the ability clorophyll, I need to know Sunny Day which will, with the ability, double my speed stat which is already very high. If this happens, I can attack first every turn, and seeing as I've effectively hit some of your EV trained pokemon on this site, it will give me more of an advantage. It knows Cut, Sunny Day (I replaced Razor Leaf with this since I learned razor leaf's power sucks), Sludge Bomb, and Energy Ball

Here are it's stats:

Attacl: 237

Defense: 178

Sp. Atk: 225

Sp. Def: 145

Speed: 220 (which can become 440)

Item: Miracle Seed

Hp: 308/308

Timid nature.

Dewgong level 100

So the book said if I have the ability Hydration, which I do, I need to know Rain Dance, which, if used in battle will automatically cure any status ailments. And it said if I use Rest it will wake up the next turn and attack. So I replaced Ice Beam with Rest (because Dewgong's sp. attack sucks so bad), and brine with Rain Dance. It's other two moves are Waterfall, and Dive.

Item: Splash Plate

HP: 311/311

Here's it's stats:

Attack: 204

Defense: 193

Sp. Atk: 186

Sp. Def: 220

Speed: 178

Hardy Nature.

Magcargo level 100

The book said if It knows shell smash then I should use it because it raises it's attack, sp. attack and speed, and lowers it's defense and sp. df. Here are it's stats:

Attack: 143

Defense: 262

Sp. Attack: 192

Sp. Def: 198

Speed: 123

But it doesn't know shell smash because I met it past level 38, so it is basically a piece of lard pokemon with a rock on it, and I use Event Zekrom instead of it when the rule allows legendaries.

HP: 255/255

Magma Armor: Prevents pokemon from being frozen

Lava Plume, Sunny Day, Flamethrower, Rock Tomb

Item: Charcoal

Careful nature (Really?)

Infernape level 100

So the book said Infernapes are really good in attack and speed, and to teach it Close Combat and Flare Blitz, but here are mine's stats:

Attack: 208

Defense: 204

Sp. Attack: 288

Sp. Def: 179

Speed: 254

HP: 311/311

Blaze: powers up fire moves in a pinch

Since the book is wrong about specifically my infernape, here are it's moves:

Flamethrower

Overheat

Focus Blast

Sunny Day

Modest Nature

Item: Black Belt

Stoutland level 100:

It said this lard about protect and last resort, and not knowing any other moves, so I didn't listen, and I don't care for that tactic

301/301 HP

Attack: 287

Defense: 218

Sp. Atk: 116

Sp. Def: 197

Speed: 219

Sand Rush: Boosts Pokemon's speed in a sandstorm

Aerial Ace

Strength

Giga Impact

Surf

Item: Flying Gem

(I might teach it sandstorm soon, I'm not sure)

Adamant nature

So, rate away!

Hmmm, this seems like a fun team to fight, perhaps you could just test it out on me so I could better judge it? We'd have to do a flat battle because I've yet to level a single pokemon to 100.

White Friend Code: 1592 3993 5748

EDIT: Oh, and if you need a heart scale so you can teach your Marcargo Shell smash, I can give you one.

Sure to both, that would be really helpful. I'll battle you tomorrow when I get back to my mom's with flat rules, and I'll need that heart scale.

1/10

It's bad, and doesn't have any good synergy at all really. Bannette will be OHKO'd by anything with those Stats, With no Droughtales you won't be able to effectivlly run a Sun team. Macargo is not really good at all unless for Teaching Litwick Heat Wave, Dewgong is more wall-orianted, and with a Team with a lot of different weather set ups it won't last well aginst a solid weather tram.

Well, you can find a Dusk stone laying around on Route 10 or you can use a bunch of max repels and go hunting for some in Charge stone cave and many other caves.

If you'd like to put your Black team to the test, I could fight you and then give you a critique afterward, All of our pokemon would be level 50. I just need your friend code.

It looks like this place needs help. lol

you only want attack or sp.attack. So make most pokemon like this 252 Attack EV's or 252 Sp.Attack IV's (What ever it is best at) then 252 speed and 4 hp. then 31 IV's in Spa.attack or Attack and 31 speed.

Pokex, your team sucks pretty bad and I can beat them with just my EV train and IV breed Haxorus and Chandelure so you may want me to get you a fresh new EV trained and IV breeded team.

It seems like me and Lit are the only ones that can EV train now.

Go read that article on EV training and IV breeding it only takes a hour and you well be a pro at it in two days so do not say ''Ugh, to much words''

thanks i just hope i didn't lose that Dusk stone when facing Gothlie's Frisk ability

eh legit question i've never had a wifi battle ( connection has trouble connecting with random people )

so does the friend code help you be able to play another player easyier for instance i go in union room but nobody is there??

The friend code is how you connect with specific people over wi-fi connection, Just register the friend code in your pal pad then talk to the middle person at pokemon centers. (Make sure you've told me you're friend code so I can get on my game and find you.) If we both go to the Wi-Fi Club, we can trade and battle with each other.

Oh, and Fred, a lot of the people here are only kids that are still learning, cut them some slack and try simplifying things to help them out.

so you are saying you can EV train Mr.monkey? (Why did you make that your name????)

Mr.Monkey is the nickname of a sociopath in a story I never finished writing. I should've gone with Balderus for my name though.

I do know how to EV train, but I really don't bother IV breeding since it's highly time consuming and in the end, my time will be wasted since I usually just fight a trainer who just cheated to get max IVs.

My team really isn't that impressive but it's not totally horrible either. For example, my Jolly Garchomp has 169 speed but only 171 Attack at level 50.

Blahblahblah

No problem, if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them to the best of my abilities.

{Edited after realizing that trying to explain problems to this team is impossible since I'm just going to receive a "whatever" if I constructively criticize.}

Your team doesn't really have a lot of strategy - you should focus on making good combinations. For example, Victreebel has a Miracle Seed, which boosts Grass-Type moves, when he/she (I don't know the gender) only has 1 Grass-Type attack; and Stoutland only has Aerial Ace as a Flying-Type move (it only has 60 power, which doesn't have much potential for damage). I suggest replacing the Miracle Seed with a different item, like Leftovers; and replacing Stoutland with Archeops (Archeops has a lot of Attack, and you can use Acrobatics with the Flying Gem. Acrobatics will get a same-type attack bonus, boosted by the gem, and then its own effect because there's no longer a held item). You also have some Pokemon that aren't really competitve, like Magcargo.

The biggest problem I see though, is that the team isn't unified. Try to make one strategy, like basing it on using weather like Rain or entry hazards like Stealth Rock.

Overall, I'd have to give it a 6/10 in competitve use. You should work on it some more.

Will everyone's basically telling me to redo my whole team, I'm not doing that. I'll just make a completely new team.

Fair enough. You can find Leftovers in a trash can by the Village Bridge, Pickup, or as a held item by a Munchlax from a trade in Undella Town.
