What's it like in a tournament

I havn't been to a tournament because 1. I'm out of practice 2. I wasn't that good in the first place (main problems are over predicting opponents...and a little luck) 3. most of my teams aren't very good (the majority being gimmicky). So I was just wondering whats it like in a tourney (TCG and video games). Do you have intence competition like I've seen in WiFi battles on youtube or is it mostly a breeze. Are there large groups of people like you see at CONs.

I don't know if I'm a bit late with this, but...

 

I've never been to a TCG tournament, but I have been to a VGC tournament. The Video Game tournaments aren't really that confusing once you get there. xD But there ARE a lot of people. I mean A LOT. We got there 2 hours early and there were about 100 people in front of us, within 30 minutes of us getting there, though there was already a huge line behind us.

 

The competition in the Senior division wasn't too intense, everybody was really nice and getting through the first few rounds wasn't too hard. xD But I haven't played in the masters didivion yet, I think the people in the masters division are a lot more serious. I mean EVs AND IVs. Not just one or the other.

 

But in order to participate there are some things you have to have: A cart of the newest Pokemon game. (Last tournament I played in, it was BW only.) A team of LEGITIMATE, non-banned Pokemon. (Almost all legendaries, excluding most roamers are banned.) And a DS/DSi/3DS...

 

They even give out really cool prizes to everyone who participates, sometimes it's shiny Pokemon, but in '11 it was a cool Reshiram/Zekrom bag. :3
