Upcoming Tins and Theme Decks

As recently revealed, this fall's product line will include some of the . On top of that, <a href="http://pokebeach.com/news/0612/dragons-exalted-theme-decks.jpg]the theme decks from the next set have been confirmed to include the "good" versions of Hydreigon and Garchomp, the focal points of current top tier decks in Japan.

Of course, said tins will come with a bonus code card, making all these more readily available online as well as in physical form. With that, hopefully we avoid a debacle like Mewtwo EX costing ~$60 in real life or ~20 packs here.

These should be out around the time TCGO relaunches PvP, so I'm hopeful we'll see more people with competitive decks. Even if you're one of those people who can't stand to be seen buying cards in stores, there is of course the secondary market.

Any thoughts about this? Rejoicing that you can finally get a Mewtwo of your own, or that Darkrai might not be 20 packs when Dark Explorers is implemented? Glad to be able to build a quality deck without paying a lot? Angry that your NXD Mewtwos no longer hold as much value?

-Kooper, surprised that the US Theme Decks trumped Japan's for once. (Though ours will likely not have the Blend Energies or Pokémon Tools, so maybe that evens it out.)

I am a little upset about having Mewtwo in the tins becuase I have 10 or so ATM online. I also have a Darkrai EX FA at home which I pulled in a Dark Explorers Box so I am a little upset that it is coming out in a tin. It should overall be decent though. As for the theme decks I think it is brilliant that the two cards are the attacker for 2 Tier 1 decks next format, and lol at that bit.

Normally TCPi trolls us so hard when it comes to releases. I'm happy that is not the case right now.

Dear TCPi, please promote the person who thought of putting these cards in the new tins, thanks.

I'm really excited for this set, tins and theme decks! Seriously, TCPi will be a carp-ton richer after this!

I already have 2 Mewtwo EX and 2 Darkrai EX that I pulled from packs, but I'm always happy to get more! (I needed more anyways)

This will lower the value of the original cards but then again they are alternate artwork. So the original artworks will still hold some value but no where near as much as before. People will flock to buy these tins and that means more money for the Pokemon Company, but at the same time a lot of people I know aren't going to be buying booster boxes anymore since their pulls aren't going to be worth much to sell/trade away.

As for Darkrais online here I don't think they'll be 20 packs, I think 12-15 packs max would be fair for Darkrai. Darkrai isn't nearly as good as Mewtwo imo. Resistance aside, Mewtwo is still better. I'll be running ruins of Alph in my deck. lol

I agree. I wonder does a $50 card in the secondary market help the sales of packs? If not than this is a no brainer. If Tins gets them more profit than packs then I hope we see more of this.

I really like that they are including the idea of releasing some of the biggest EXs in tins now, but One thing I'd like to mention is that Mewtwo's Tin will be the most commonly one bought, and for good reason, but if your know your history, this doesn't seem like a very wise move. Like Mansa Musa did to his day's Gold MArket, everyone will most likely be getting the Mewtwo tin, greatly decreasing the value of MEwtwo EXs, this might not seem like much, but it greatly affects the trade market, as people will suddenly be paying for so much things with Mewtwo, it's value will drop from 20 packs to 2 packs.

That being said, I'm getting the Rayquaza tin! I'm very excited for these to come out

Well, this also means it's confirmed that the Hydreigon deck will be Psychic/Dark, and the Garchomp deck will be Water/Fighting. I know that the Japanese halfdecks with the different versions didn't work like that, but the Japanese halfdecks generally are tri-colored and quite random.

Also, considering the small amount of darks in the Japanese set which I suppose will all be in Dragons Exalted, I suppose Murkrow/Honchkrow and Stunky/Skuntank are as good as confirmed in the Hydreigon deck as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

well, since i am not rich and also starting to make a deck and hopefully will be able to get a tournament-worthy deck, i only think a new expansion may be good.

hopefully i'll have some more money by the time they release it.

I already have all of my cards but reprints are always good unless you're trying to sell, because more people can play the game.

Looks like there was was some mix-up in the images of the theme decks...

Thus, we can expect the weaker and <a href="http://pokebeach.com/scans/japanese/bw5/hydreigon-deck/9.jpg]Hydreigon in our decks, the same ones Japan got in theirs. (At least we matched Japan on theme deck quality...contingent upon the T/S/S lines being decent; I doubt they will include Blend Energy in ours.)

Although, unless the price of a Garchomp/Hydreigon breaches 10 packs (or $5 for a physical one on the secondary market, which seems more likely than 10 packs here), the theme decks were still not as good as buying singles. Hopefully the decks will still include some of the good backup Pokémon like Ability Gabite and Altaria.

-Kooper, probably would have preferred the theme decks with the good Stage 2s to the tins, but cheap Darkrai is still very good.
