What is the best strategies for prerelease tourneys? I have one this weekend and my last one i went to i was a stagering 1-3... I really dont want to repeat that.. Is it best to just put a bunch of different type pokemon with like 1 energy attacks or like try to build a theme? and how many energies for a 40 card deck would be efficient?

Well in the last Prerelease I went to [NV] I went 3-0, it depends on what cards u pull. I would recommend running a deck with 1-3 sorts of Pokemon [in NV I ran F, G, P and Colourless too] this allows the deck to have a decent amount of attack power without compromising consistent setting up. In terms of energies it depends a lot on the number of Pokemon sorts u are running and the number of Draw Supporters in a set, for exmaple in DE there are 0 draw supporters so it is important to run lots of energies, but in sets such as BW-EPO-NV-ND, u could run less as there were draw supporters. As for Pokemon, I would not worry about Pokemon who need lots of attachments to set up as in a prerelease it normally takes the opponent multiple turns to KO, and with no Catcher u can set up Pokemon on the bench without fear.

Actually, there IS a Professor Juniper reprint and supposedly N and Cheren reprints.

If I pull good things, for example, Darkrai EX, Raikou EX, ect, I would build my deck around those, but if I pull bad stuff like Crustle, Glaceon, ect I make do with what I got and try to focus on which is better. (hopefully this doesn't wind up like the ND PR where I got horrible pulls and had to use Muk)

Hi, totally unrelated to this topic but not sure how to post questions or anything (quite new)

On this TCG online can you only use the blue, red and green decks the game provides or can you make your own deck?

How do you get more cards? Or do you have to buy the real life decks and redeem the codes.

Thanks

there is tons of draw supporters some of the most out of any set

Having no official scans within the set so far I based the remarks that I made within the Dark Rush scans, if there are lots of draw supporters then it will mean that fewer energy counts willl be needed to be run.

Just don't base your deck off of Ultra rares and hard to pull cards. What I advise doing for the DEX prerelease (and what I'm going to try to do) is base my deck around the new Empoleon. It's basically a better Jumpluff (Mass Attack) with higher HP and built-in draw support. I hoped that helped.

yeah that set does look like it has some good cards for the prerelease i was just looking at... however for actual tourney decks this set doesnt have to many new playable cards... At first glance any ways
