Sorry, I don't have the game log, but I can describe the sequence of events.

There are 6 prizes total on the board, my opponent uses Celesteela (CST100)'s moonraker attack on his turn.

On my turn, there are no longer 6 prizes total on board.

I attach 2 energies to a mimikyu, and use copycat. The attack does nothing.

Celesteela's text only affects the energy cost, but copycat should ignore the energy cost. Mimikyu should still be able to deal damage in this scenario.

I believe you're right, and this is a bug.  If your opponent used Moon Raker, you should have been able to use Mimikyu's Copycat, regardless of the high Energy cost on your next turn.

Hello Grimy-Bunyip,

Thank you for reporting this. Mimikyu's Copycat attack should be able to utilize Celesteela's Moon Raker attack with the conditions you listed. Mimikyu had proper energy to use Copycat and Celesteela had used Moon Raker the previous turn.

I've rounded up notes for this and submitted them to the development team.

The QA team was able to reproduce this issue. It's been added to the 2.55 Known Issues post.

Cards

  • Celesteela (CES #100, PR #SM131): Attacks that copy Moon Raker may fail if the total of both players' remaining Prize cards was reduced from exactly 6 as a result of the opponent's Celesteela using Moon Raker on the last turn.

It looks like the prize count does not even matter - even if Celesteela uses Moon Raker with the full amount of energy required (not on a 6 prize turn), Mimikyu simply cannot use Copycat to copy it.
