Hello everyone,

I'd like to ask you (I couldn't find the answer anywhere) about a problem I encouraged.
What happens if Dialga GX attacks with ''Shred''
- (This attack's damage isn't affected by any effects on your opponent's Active Pokémon.) and it's target is Alolan Ninetales
- (Prevent all damage, including effects, done to this Pokémon by your opponent's GX and EX Pokémon.)

Thanks

It seems I was wrong then.

No sense to me, though, Dialga GX can ignore Alolan Ninetales ability, so would hit.

Dialga GX cannot hit Alolan Ninetales.

What avoids Alolan Ninetales to be damaged by EX and GX it's an ABILITY.

The text in Dialga GX attack call for EFFECTS (and it's an effect itself indeed).

An effect of an attack is a text beow the attack that states for something. An example would be:

Golisopod GX

Armor press

During your opponent's next turn, this Pokémon takes 20 less damage from attacks (after applying Weakness and Resistance).

So if Golisopod uses Armor press, should be hit for less damage next turn. Another pokémon hitting 80, would hit 60 to Golisopod.  But Dialga GX effect of attack states its damage is not affected by EFFECTS: Dialga would hit Golisopod for 80 anyway.

This is wrong. Shred can pierce through Alolan Ninetales because Luminous Barrier is an effect put on Alolan Ninetales itself. Nothing about Shred says "attack effects", so it ignores all effects put on the Defending Pokemon, abilities included.

This is correct. Shred will pierce through Luminous Barrier (and all other immune to this-and-that ability)

It was a mistake. No one knows everything.

My bad JadenBork. I apologize.
